Truman Lake Fishing Report – August 14
It may still be hot outside, but the fishing at Truman Lake is even hotter. Mark Huey of Mark Huey’s Guide Service shared his latest update from the water, and both crappie and catfish are keeping anglers busy.
Crappie – The bite remains strong in 6–12 feet of water, with a few fish holding deeper. Long-poling with DNS Brush Buster spoons tipped with minnows continues to outproduce jigs. “You can catch some on a jig,” Mark said, “but the spoons just get bit better.”
Catfish – The catfish action is heating up thanks to large schools of shad. Mark recently found a pocket with no structure — just shad — and the results were quick limits. The best depth has been 6–11 feet, dragging baits through these shad-rich zones.
Book Your Trip – September trips are almost completely booked, and October is filling fast. There are still some openings in November and December. Mark Huey's Guide Service
