Truman Lake Fishing Report – July 30, 2025
We’re deep into the summer heat, but the fishing on Truman Lake hasn’t cooled down one bit. Mark Huey of Mark Huey’s Guide Service is still putting clients on fish daily, and this week is no exception.
The crappie bite remains excellent. Minnows continue to outperform jigs, and if you’re using spoons, Mark recommends the D&S Brush Buster from DNS Custom Jigs. You’ll find crappie on conservation brush piles and cedar trees—some shallow (10 ft or less), some a bit deeper. The MDC’s “Find MO Fish” tool is a goldmine for locating productive piles.
Catfish are turning on, too. Mark says the bite is improving every day with fish being caught both shallow and in deeper parts of the main lake. As for white bass, they’re a bit quiet—some are popping up near cedar trees, but it’s not a strong bite yet.
Thinking about a guided trip? Mark’s calendar is filling fast. He has a few weekdays left in August, limited slots in September and October, and no Saturdays open for the rest of the year.
If you’re planning a corporate outing, family trip, or want to give a gift that’ll be remembered, Mark offers gift certificates and can accommodate large groups—his August group outing will include up to eight boats!
As always, this report is brought to you by Sportsman’s Outfitter & Marine, your local Lund boat dealer.
