This week brought classic Midwest chaos — freezing mornings with iced-up reels followed by 70-degree afternoons. But the fish at Truman Lake are eating, and the fall pattern is locked in for crappie, catfish, and white bass.

🎣 Crappie

Crappie fishing is excellent. Stake beds in 6–8 feet of water halfway back in the creeks are loaded with fish. Many are suspended high in the water column, and bobber rigs are working great.

Mark hasn’t bought minnows in two weeks — small shad-colored plastics are doing all the work. Wild Willies, Small Fries, Slot Limit baits, and Living the Dream shad bodies are producing well, especially in 1–1.25” sizes.

🐟 Catfish

Catfish are feeding consistently again. With the warm-up, fish are sliding out of the ditches and moving up on shallow flats chasing shad. Cold mornings still require sticking close to the ditch edges, but by midday they’re active.

Plenty of slot fish (26–34 inches) are mixed with great eater-size blues.

White Bass

If the wind is blowing, the white bass bite is phenomenal. If it’s slick, it’s tough.

White and chartreuse Rooster Tails are getting crushed on wind-blown banks. On the right day, 25–30 fish in 30 casts is normal.

🎣 Bonus Bite

While crappie fishing, Mark has been picking up suspended largemouth around timber. As the water cools, many big fish stay surprisingly shallow — sometimes only 2 ft deep on sunny days.

🗓️ Book a Trip

Mark is double-booking to finish November and has limited availability left. December still has open days, and spring trips are filling fast.

If the lake isn’t frozen, Mark is fishing — get your trip locked in.
