🎣 Truman Lake Weekly Fishing Report – September 18, 2025
Brought to you by Mark Huey’s Guide Service & Sportsman’s Outfitter & Marine
This week’s report is all about timing — and current.
Mark’s been out multiple days this week, and while the crappie bite has been good overall, it definitely got weird when back current rolled through the system.
“Fish were there — they’d swim up and look at the jig — but they just wouldn’t commit,” Mark said. “But once they started pulling water the right way, it turned on like a switch.”
Crappie:
Depth: 10–15 ft
Location: Bucksaw area
Presentation: Minnows out-producing jigs, but hair jigs working when water is moving properly
Notes: Back current slowed the bite, but it bounced back quickly with proper flow
Catfish:
Bite is scattered — lots of moving needed
Bait: Fresh shad
Pattern: 1–3 fish per setup, then move
Best spots: Areas with some boat traffic seem to activate fish
Lake Conditions:
Surface temp rebounding after a slight cool-off
Lots of floating slime and stagnation from lack of wind/rain
Mark notes: “Feels like pond water out there. We could use a good front or a strong rain.”
Availability:
September: Afternoons only
October–December: Mornings and full-day trips open
Group trips (up to 16 people) and gift certificates available
