Mark Huey is back on Truman Lake after a quick trip north to Canada where he found success with smallmouth, pike, and walleye. Now that he’s home, the bite on Truman remains strong and fall patterns are starting to take shape.

Crappie

The crappie bite is still going strong. Anglers are having success with minnows, jigs, and spoons — with DNS Custom Jigs spoons standing out for their ability to pop free from brush. As water temperatures cool, the hair jig bite should improve, especially heading into late fall and winter.

Catfish

Mark has been running catfish trips all week with solid results. Using fresh cut shad, groups have been catching 40–50 fish per day by moving frequently and focusing on anchor fishing. The bite will only improve as water temperatures drop.

White Bass

The white bass bite hasn’t kicked off yet, but Mark expects things to pick up by mid-to-late October once water temperatures cool. Look for fish to stack up on windy points and be aggressive toward casting baits.
