Crappie Limits and Summer Tips with Mark Huey on Truman Lake

This summer, we joined Mark Huey—longtime Truman Lake guide and the newest Pro Staffer for Sportsman’s Outfitter & Marine—for a day of chasing crappie on one of Missouri’s most productive fisheries. With over 20 years of experience, Mark has guided anglers of all experience levels, and this trip showed exactly why he’s one of the best in the business.

Fishing from his Lund 2075 Pro V Bass, powered by a 250HP Mercury Pro XS, Mark demonstrated how effective summertime crappie fishing can be. Using a B’n’M Blue Diamond rod and a DNS Brush Buster Spoon tipped with a minnow, we targeted fish between 6 to 12 feet of water and hit a two-man limit—30 crappie total.

Mark also walked us through some great gear tips:
