The late summer bite at Truman Lake is holding strong, and guide Mark Huey brings us the latest update.

Crappie Fishing

Crappie are still best on minnows, especially when paired with DNS Brush Buster spoons. While the morning bite can feel sluggish, once the fish get moving, action is solid. Jigs will catch fish, but minnows are outperforming by far.

Catfish

The catfish bite is steady and predictable. Mark recommends dragging baits through shad schools or anchoring shallow with fresh-cut shad—always a top choice this time of year.

White Bass

While no big schools have shown up yet, plenty of white bass are hanging high on timber. They’ll strike if you present your bait slow enough.

Availability

Mark’s August calendar is completely full, with only a few days left in September and October. But November and December often provide excellent fishing on Truman Lake—and Mark has plenty of dates open then.

If you’re ready for a day of action-packed fishing with one of Truman’s most experienced guides, now is the time to reserve your spot. https://www.facebook.com/MarkHueysGuideService
