July 24 Truman Lake Fishing Report: Crappie Limits, Shallow Catfish, and Summer White Bass
Welcome back to your weekly Truman Lake Fishing Report brought to you by Sportsman’s Outfitter & Marine—your Midwest Lund dealer—and Mark Huey’s Guide Service.
Weather Update: It’s hot, and so is the bite!
Crappie Report: The crappie action is still strong across the lake. Mark reports catching limits nearly every day, with bigger crappie showing up in shallow water—10 feet or less—on standing timber and black stumps. For those chasing numbers, look deeper in 15–22 feet of water around cedar and hedge trees. Live minnows continue to outperform jigs.
Catfish Report:The catfish bite is picking up, especially shallow. Mark found his best success with fresh cut shad in just 1.9–2.5 feet of water on the Grand arm. Some bites are happening in 4–6 feet, but the shallows are hot.
White Bass Update: White bass are starting to show up around deeper cedar trees and main lake humps. Trolling crankbaits has produced decent numbers, and this bite should keep getting better into August.
New to Truman? If you’re new to the lake, navigating can be tricky. Mark recommends staying in the channel and avoiding tight turns around points. Better yet—book a guided trip to learn the structure and avoid the hazards.
Booking Update: Mark has openings in August and limited days left in September and October. Don’t wait to secure your spot.
